A study on Intensive Weight Loss Programs to Reverse Diabetes, part 1.

The Journal of the American Medical Association, JAMA, published findings of a new randomized controlled trial, by a team led by Edward Gregg of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according which intensive weight loss programs can help overweight adults with type 2 diabetes to see partial remission online, December the 18th.

Type 2 diabetes -a disease costs the U.S. health system $116 billion each year -has long been thought of as a chronic and irreversible disease, but is it an irreversible one? Anyway, some 25 million Americans are afflicted with the illness, which is associated with obesity and a sedentary lifestyle, as well as high blood pressure. And it is estimated to affect 50 million Americansby 2050.

Recent previous study shows that gastric bypass surgery -a form of bariatric surgery that reduces the sizeof the stomach -can lead to at least temporary remission of type 2 diabetes in up to 62 percent of extremely obese adults.

The findings of the study published by the JAMA suggest that “partial remission, defined by a transition to prediabetic or normal glucose levels without drug treatment for a specific period, is an obtainable goal for some patients with type 2 diabetes” ; But researchers also think that regaining weight and falling behind on diet and physical activity goals increase the risk that people will return to a diabetic state.

Can eating healthy suffice? Some will say not. But eating healthy as a huge role.

"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them," said Albert Einstein.

It's why all of us agree that tips to make the change are always welcome. Below are some I found and want to share with all of you ;

"We treat our cars better than our bodies."

Why not to "Eat whole, real, nutrient dense foods, move your body regularly in a way that you enjoy, get adequate, restorative sleep regularly, lighten up your stress load, connect more with others and get the support you need to get your job done" instead I wonder?

To get there, ask yourself "if you can’t pronounce the ingredients, if you wouldn’t find the ingredients in a cookbook, if your grandmother never cooked with it or if it can last indefinitelyon a shelf somewhere … do you really want that inside you?"

Study: How to succeed a weight loss? And what is it about.

Cautioned said the study lead author Dr. Kishore Gadde, director of the Obesity Clinical Trials Program at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C

"The question was to see if more weight loss could be achieved if we provided decent quality lifestyle intervention, mostly dietary counseling."

"And the answer was yes," Gadde said.

"But for about athird [of patients], biological issues are at play, such as not easily experiencing satiety signals from the gut to the brain."

And Lona Sandon, a registered dietitian and assistant professor of clinical nutrition at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, agreed.

"The important thing to keep in mind is that although we diagnose obesity on the basis of a mathematical formula -- aBMI of 30 and up -- the basis for obesity may differ from one individual to another."

The research, funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health, appears online Oct. 15 in the journal Archives of Internal Medicine .

A success story ; the power of fitness for health, for weight loss etc

Before Weight: 273 pounds
I started eating more and moving less. The pounds piled on and thesedentary lifestyle started to take a toll on my health as well.
By 2010, my weight was double the normal weight for a woman my height.
How I Lost It: In April 2010, with the support of my husband and family, I began exercising and modifying my diet. I started exercising very gradually. I was nervous because of the heart attack and also my bad knees. I started with 15 minutes on the treadmill at a slow walk. By the time I left cardiac rehab, I was working out for 20 minutes on the treadmill, 20 minutes on the NuStep, 10 minutes on the elliptical and 10 minutes of weights. The first time I tried the elliptical was the longest five minutes ofmy life.
After I had lost about 50 pounds, I started wearing a pedometer and tracking my steps. I averaged about 5,000 to 6,000 steps a day at first. Now I average about 16,000 steps a day. I go tothe gym five to six times a week. I do cardio every time I go, and about 30 minutes of weights three times a week. Mike and I go togther on Sunday mornings.

Dr. Carl Foster, a professor in the exercise and sports science department at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
"Yes it can be done. You can do the work in 10 minutes but then it takes you 40 minutes to recover."
And for motivation, "The people who are ... active on a routine basis are the people who don't get heart attacks." He added.

"If I had 10 minutes I would do fairly intense strength training, total body workouts with dumbbells or kettle bells interspersed with cardio intervals like jumping jacks," said Amy Dixon, who is Group Fitness Manager at an Equinox fitness center in Santa Monica, California. And creator of the "Give Me 10" DVD series of 10-minute workouts.

Before we talk about the factor "Kitchen", let's talk about others that count too

1.Where you start/came from in term of initial body fat.

The present comes from the past, and the future will come from the present ; If you have a high % of body fat, you will have to burn lots of fat then hold a certain level of leanness for a certain time before seeing your abdominal muscles.
Because the fat you shred doesn't go completely, but leave a tissue that require a longer hold of efforts to disappear.

2. Your cortisol level.

Nights are designed for sleeping, which can incredibly adjust your control level : Getting to bed at a reasonable hour and preferably the same every night for a reasonable length is a good way of taking advance of this...
Note : The reasonable length is up to each one's activity level ; the more you're active, the more you need sleep !

3. Genetics

Like it or not, your genetics have lots to say about how you look.
But you aren't obliged to fit their profile : Remember that you're what you convince yourself you are ... Create a new reality is needed !

4. Excessive aerobic exercise.

Things, even good ones, are dangerous if did excessively ... It's the case of aerobic fitness.

Fat is our reserve source of energy, where your body find calories for it to function when there's a lack of carbohydrates. It's sufficient for fat not to be always harmful.

Under our skins, the layer of fat and muscle are seperate tissues
If your layer of fat is higher than it should, whatever your fitness exercise and length are, you will just end up having strong muscles hiding under.
So, to flaunt your muscles, work for a fat loss and strengthen the abs muscles.
About 20 minutes of fitness are required to start using this reserve -burning fat- for an average person on an average diet. -It's happening when you feel the heat feeling within your stomach area.


Note :
1. You cannot target fat loss. No fitness exercise or machine can burn fat just around your abdominals, or your tigh, or wherever on your body's muscles.
Fat is distributed across the body more on some parts and less on others but it is burned removing the same percentage from all the parts.
2. In general, woman's healthy fat percentages is higher than guys's.
3 Its not good to completely negate carbohydrate from your diet because your body still needs to functionusing carbs. functioning without any carbsource will cause fatigue, headaches, dizziness, mood swings, high uric acid etc

1. Learn Proper Form. It’s much easier to learn proper form initially than to develop poor habits and try to break them later...
2. Stick to the Basics. Just getting into strength training or getting serious about it? you will be better off sticking with a few exercises for the first few months. Think about it this way–what would be easier and quicker for you to memorize :7 different riddles or 20?...
3. Use Acceptable Alternatives. Mobility issues don’t allow you to safely and properly perform certain exercises, or lack of equipments ? Either way, you should use appropriate exercise substitutions...
4. Focus on Getting Stronger. The necessary strength to make some popular boot-camp or circuit type workouts...
5. Know that You will NOT get “Big ‘n Bulky”. -Women. Strength training will allow you to build muscle, increase your metabolism, burn body fat, and ultimately help you achieve the healthy lean and“toned” appearance you desire...
6. Be consistent and Don’t Give Up. Celebrate the smaller steps you achieve along the way. Don’t expect to start strength training today and witness results overnight. However, most women who just start strength training notice some changes the first week...

Tsp chia seed. Directions Just blend the whole lot together (except the chia) and add a little water to help it blend. You need to soak the dates the night before (unless they're fresh) And core and chop the apple into small chunks just to make it easier for the blender.
